Amish Dining Chair Collection

A dining chair is the piece of furniture you are in contact with most, three meals a day, every day, so it has to be comfortable and it has to last. Our Amish dining chairs are built from solid American hardwood, with joinery made to take years of being pulled out, sat in and pushed back. They are the chairs that hold up long after a big-box set has loosened at the joints.

You will find side chairs and arm chairs across every style we make, from Mission and Shaker to ladder back and farmhouse, with your choice of a solid wood seat or an upholstered one. Every chair is made to order in the wood, stain, and size you choose, so a new set matches the table you already own or the one you are building now.

FINDING YOUR FIT

How to Choose Your Dining Chairs

Most sets mix two kinds of chair. Side chairs are armless and line the sides of the table, while arm chairs, sometimes called host chairs, sit at the two ends. A common setup pairs two arm chairs at the ends with side chairs down the sides, though you can order all of one kind. Count the seats your table fits before you decide how many of each.

Then choose a style. Mission chairs have clean vertical slats, Shaker leans simple and light, ladder back chairs stack horizontal rungs up the back, and farmhouse styles run more relaxed. Every style comes in the same wood and stain options, so the chairs match whatever table you pair them with.

Last, decide on the seat. A solid wood seat wipes clean in a second and keeps the whole chair in one material, while an upholstered seat adds cushioning and a bit of softness for long dinners. Tell us your table and how you use it, and we will help you settle the mix, the style and the seat.

Comfortable for Long Dinners

Contoured seats and supportive backs are shaped for the meals that turn into conversations, so nobody is shifting around or getting up early.

Side and Arm Chairs

Line the sides with armless side chairs and cap the ends with arm chairs, all in one style, or fill the whole table with whichever you prefer.

Wood or Upholstered Seats

Choose a solid wood seat that wipes clean in a second, or an upholstered one for extra cushioning, in a fabric that suits your room.

Built to Take Daily Use

Solid hardwood and tight joinery stand up to being leaned back in and dragged out every day, where an Amish wood chair outlasts a factory set many times over.

BUILT TO LAST

Where a Chair Earns Its Keep

A dining chair takes more stress than the table it sits at, tipped back, dragged out and sat in hard, several times a day. That is why joinery matters more in a chair than almost anywhere else, and why solid hardwood and traditional joints are worth it. Ours are built to order by the Amish shops behind our Nolensville showroom, most arriving in 8 to 12 weeks, with Quick Ship options in 3 to 5.

Because each set is made for you, we match your chairs to a table you already own, down to the wood and the stain, so a set added years later still looks like it belongs.

BEYOND THE DINING ROOM

Furnish the Rest of the House

The shops that build your dining chairs build for every other room too. Bring the same solid hardwood into the bedroom, the living room, the office and out onto the porch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Plan on about 24 inches of table edge per chair, then allow for the legs at the corners. As a rule, a six-foot table seats six comfortably, and a bit more with a bench on one side. Tell us your table size and we will confirm the count.
Yes, and it is one of the most common things we do. Order wood and stain samples, hold them against your table, and we build the chairs in the finish that matches, even if the table came from somewhere else years ago.
Yes. Everyday spills wipe up with a damp cloth, and because there is a solid wood chair underneath, the covered seat can be recovered down the road if you ever want a new look or a fresh fabric.
Either. Because every chair is made to order, you can order one, a pair, or a full set of eight. People often add a couple of arm chairs to side chairs they already have, and we match the finish.
Yes. Solid hardwood dining chairs ship fully assembled and ready to sit in, with no flat-pack hardware to sort out. White glove delivery brings them into the room so there is nothing for you to build.
Yes. Financing is available on select pieces through checkout, so you can spread the cost of a full set of chairs over time. Look for the financing option on the product page, or call our team and we will walk you through what qualifies.
White glove delivery brings your chairs inside and places them in the room, then removes the packaging, for a flat $239 anywhere in the lower 48. Alaska and Hawaii are the only areas we cannot reach.
