What's the advantage of a double pedestal over a four-leg table?
Legroom and seating flexibility. With no legs at the corners, chairs slide in anywhere along the sides, and nobody ends up straddling a table leg. It's the more comfortable base for a table that seats a crowd.

How many people does the York seat?

The solid tops seat six to eight depending on length. Add leaves and a 72-inch table opens well past that, so it handles everyday dinners at its base size and holidays once the leaves go in. 

What is a butterfly leaf?
A leaf that folds in half and stores inside the table itself, under the top, so it's always there when you need it and never in a closet. You pull the table open, unfold the leaf, and close the gap. No hunting for a loose panel in the garage.

Which wood should I choose for a farmhouse look?
Oak and quartersawn white oak lean traditional and take farmhouse stains beautifully. Brown maple takes stain the most evenly if you want a specific color. Cherry deepens over time. We send a sample on your actual wood before you commit.

Can I get the York pedestal table in a size that isn't listed?
The York's standard lengths are 60, 66, and 72 inches, but our makers build to order and can often adjust. Tell us the size your room needs and we'll confirm what's possible before you order.

Is a double pedestal table as sturdy as one with four legs?
Yes. Two heavy pedestals carry the weight through the center of the table, and on solid hardwood, that's a stable, well-balanced base. It's a design that's held up in dining rooms for generations.

How do the two-inch and eighteen-inch leaf options differ?
The 12-inch leaves add length in smaller increments for a few extra guests. The 18-inch butterfly leaves add more room and fold away inside the table. Which you want depends on how much bigger you need the table to get, and how often.
