What makes the West Lake crib different from a plain crib?
The detailing. It has a raised panel back, rope molding worked into the frame, and relief cuts carved into the legs, the kind of hand-done touches most cribs leave off. If you want a crib that looks considered rather than basic, this is the one built for it.
Why is it shown in quartersawn white oak?
Quartersawn white oak has a tight grain with a distinctive flake or ray figure that catches the light, and it suits a detailed crib better than a plain-sawn wood because the grain plays into the craftsmanship. It’s shown in white oak for that reason, and also offered in six other woods.
Does the crib come with a mattress?
Yes, a crib mattress is included. Many cribs are sold as the frame alone with the mattress an extra cost, so it’s worth factoring in when you compare.
What does it convert into?
With conversion kits, it becomes a toddler bed and then a double bed, so the same frame carries your child well past the crib years. The kits are available separately, which lets you add each stage as you reach it.
Is this a drop-side crib?
No. The West Lake is a fixed-side crib with no moving rail. For specific questions about safety standards or how it compares to a crib you’re replacing, call us at 615-819-2772 and we’ll answer plainly before you order.
Can I order it in a wood other than white oak?
Yes. Along with quartersawn white oak, it’s built in oak, cherry, sap cherry, brown maple, hickory, and hard maple, each finished by hand in your stain. We send a sample on your actual wood before building so you see the grain and color first.
Will the detailing date as my child grows?
It’s traditional detailing, rope molding and raised panels, the kind that reads as classic rather than trendy, so it tends to age well. As the crib converts to a toddler and then a double bed, the same touches that suited the nursery carry into an older child’s room.
