Heirloom Quality Furniture

Everything you see on our website is both sourced and made in the United States by Amish or Mennonite craftsmen. Most people associate high quality furniture with Amish craftsmen, and that association is well founded. Amish craftsmen have learned the craft of furniture making and wood working through generations.  The emphasis is on making the product right, with attention to detail and quality.

There are several differences that make purchasing from The Amish House a special experience over other big box retailers.

Materials

We use only solid hardwoods when making our furniture. No particle boards, MDF, or veneers are used whatsoever. We offer several hardwood choices – our standard options are Cherry, Maple, Oak, and Quartersawn White Oak, although we can use other woods like Walnut and Elm if you prefer.

Quality Construction

The quality of our furniture is among the highest you will find. From finished backs on beds (for those with open bedroom plans) to drawer construction, we think the small details are important.

As an example, let’s look at drawer box construction. Most big box retailers use joint techniques that minimize available drawer space, and will not hold up over time. In addition, big box drawer hardware (or lack thereof) often minimizes how far the drawer can be opened. This greatly reduces your ability to access the drawer without creating a mess.

On the other hand, our materials and construction techniques ensure complete use of the available drawer space and longevity of your furniture. All of our drawers are made from solid poplar hardwood and use:

  • Dovetail joints, which ensure your drawers won't fall apart if inadvertently slammed
  • Dado drawer bottoms, which ensure your drawer won't bow out over time
  • Full extension metal ball bearing drawer glides, which give you a smooth action when opening your drawers and ensure all of the drawer box space is available for use.

Stains & Finish

Our craftsmen use a Catalyzed Conversion Varnish Topcoat along with the stain color of your choice over the exterior and the inside of all drawer boxes. This process both beautifies and protects your surface while retaining the natural texture of the wood. We offer a large variety of stains, which you can view here. We understand that this is a lot to choose from – if you’d like guidance picking out your wood type and stain, just give us a call and we’ll help simplify the process for you!

     Shipping and delivery

At $199 for door-to-door delivery and in-home setup, we offer among the lowest shipping prices you'll find for hardwood furniture.

    Payment plans

We offer payment plans to our customers for all solid hardwood furniture. In addition to choosing standard checkout and paying for your order upfront, you can pay with just half down, and the remainder when your order is complete. Just look for the 'Start a payment plan' button in your cart. (Please note, this is not available for outdoor furniture, as this furniture will generally ship within 3-5 days via FedEx.)

We are happy that you are considering The Amish House for your furniture purchase. We take great pride in the furniture we offer, and we understand you may have some questions or concerns before placing your order. For more information, take a look at our FAQ, or call us at 1-866-623-0112
