Amish Trestle Dining Tables

A trestle dining table is defined by its base: two end supports joined by a low stretcher beam, with the legs pulled in and off the sides. That open design is why the trestle is the table people pair with benches, since a bench slides right underneath and seats a whole side at once. Our Amish trestle dining tables are built from solid American hardwood, with the long plank tops that give the style its farmhouse character.

You will find everything from a small trestle table for a breakfast nook to a long harvest table that seats a crowd, in finishes from rustic to refined. Every trestle table is made to order in the wood, stain, and size you choose, so it fits your room and matches the chairs you already own or a set you are building now.

FINDING YOUR FIT

Length First, Then How You'll Seat It

A trestle is built to run long, so start with length and how many you seat. Because the supports sit in from the ends and stay clear of the sides, you can line a bench down one or both sides and fit more people than chairs alone would allow. Plenty of families mix a bench on one side with dining chairs on the other.

The one thing to check is the end seats. On a trestle, the feet reach outward for stability, so measure for a chair at each end before you settle on a length. Tell us how many you seat on a normal night and at your biggest gathering, and we will size the table and the base to fit, then build it in your wood and stain.

Clear Legroom Along the Sides

With the supports set in from the ends, no one along the sides fights a table leg, which is what makes a trestle the natural table for bench seating.

Built to Run Long

The stretcher beam ties the two ends together, so a trestle stays rigid even at harvest-table lengths that seat ten or twelve.

Solid Plank Tops

Thick solid hardwood tops give a trestle its weight and its farmhouse look, with no veneer over particle board the way the big-box versions are built.

Made to Your Length

Choose the wood, stain and size, and add leaves so the table stretches for guests, then comes back down for a quiet weeknight.

BUILT TO LAST

Joinery That Holds a Long Table Together

A long table lives or dies by its joinery, where the supports meet the top and the stretcher locks the base. Solid hardwood and traditional joinery are what keep a trestle from loosening over the years, and it is the difference between a table you hand down and one that racks.

Ours are built to order by the Amish shops behind our Nolensville showroom, most arriving in 8 to 12 weeks, with Quick Ship options in 3 to 5.

Because each one is made for you, we can match a trestle to the chairs or the room you already have, down to the wood and the stain. And when you're planning the kitchen it will anchor, we build custom cabinetry in the same Amish tradition.

BEYOND THE TABLE

One Set of Hands, Every Room

Once your dining room is set, the same Amish workshops build for the rest of the house. Bedrooms, living rooms, home offices and the porch out back, all held to the standard you bought your table for.

Frequently Asked Questions

They overlap, which is why the terms get mixed up. A trestle table is defined by its base, two end supports joined by a stretcher, while farmhouse describes the look, usually a plank top with a rustic finish. Many farmhouse tables are trestles, though not all of them are.
It depends on the length. A compact trestle seats four to six, while a long harvest-style table with leaves can seat ten, twelve or more down the sides, especially with benches. Tell us your biggest gathering and we will build a length to match.
Yes. A small trestle table works well in a nook or apartment, and the clear legroom along the sides makes a tight space feel less crowded than a four-leg table would. We can size an Amish trestle table to fit the room you have.
Yes. Order wood and stain samples first so you can check the finish against your floors and your chairs at home. We then build the table in the exact wood and stain you approve, so it looks on delivery day just as it did in hand.
Yes. Financing is available on select pieces through checkout, so you can spread the cost of a dining table over time. Look for the financing option on the product page, or call our team and we will walk you through what qualifies.
White glove delivery brings the table inside, sets it up in the room and removes the packaging, for a flat $239 anywhere in the lower 48. Alaska and Hawaii are the only areas we cannot reach.
Yes. Our Nolensville, Tennessee showroom has trestle tables set up so you can see the length, run a hand along the plank top and compare finishes in person. Call ahead and we will have the styles you are weighing ready for you.
